His Plan

Posted by Amy Gustafson on

I love Ephesians 2:10, "For we are His WORKMANSHIP, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared BEFOREHAND that we should walk in them." The word workmanship in the original biblical text is "poiema," from the verb form meaning - for an artisan to design, such as a poem. Therefore, this passage emphasizes how God, as our Master Designer, takes our lives before Christ that have no rhyme or reason, and after we have received Christ, helps us become the beautiful poem He originally planned for us to be before we were even born!

He had a vision for your life and created you for a special purpose even as He formed you in your mother's womb. Don't ever believe the lie that your life is meaningless. You are SO VALUABLE to God and valuable in His plan for this world!

God has a vision for each of our futures and it is our role to pray and pursue that vision. It reminds me of when Shaun and I dated. I'm so thankful he looked at me as a treasure and pursued me. Of course, as we got to know each other, he could clearly see the feelings were reciprocal and I was interested in him as well. Do you treat GOD's PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE as a treasure, in the same way you would treat someone with whom you were deeply interested in having a relationship? If not, it's never too late to start!

Even into marriage, we continue to pursue each other through dating, studying each other's likes and dislikes, and trying our best to please and praise each other. We also continue to pray for one another daily.

If we notice our relationship isn't quite what it could or should be, we go back to the daily foundational principles to make sure we are daily and weekly staying on track with 1) praying together and for each other, 2) daily pursuing positive, honoring, and edifying conversation, 3) making regular time to go on dates and have fun together.

This is similar to how we need to treat God's plan for our life. The fullness of God's vision for us will not just fall on us like ripe cherries off a tree, anymore than a great marriage will just happen without time and effort intentionally invested into it.

When we pursue learning about God's love for us through His word, as well as seek ways we can honor and love on Him, we become in tune with the desires of His heart. When you pray for direction He will be faithful to guide you in both big and small ways, many of which you won't even recognize until years later!

He leads us into His good plan as we get to know Him better. It becomes a beautiful daily and lifelong process of yielding to His Holy Spirit and allowing Him to author the beautiful poem our lives are created to be!

May God's peace be yours today and always! Shaun and I love and appreciate you!
