Quick to Listen

Posted by Shaun & Amy Gustafson on

The better listener we become, the greater wisdom and favor we are able to receive. Proverbs 8:34-35 tells us "Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord."

When we are quick to listen and slow to speak, great things start happening, both with people and with God. We want to encourage you, as we enter this fresh new year of 2017, purpose in your mind and heart to daily listen to God every morning like never before!

Continually ignoring or not listening for God's voice creates hardness of heart. The good news is, no matter where we have been in this area, we can choose to start calling out for wisdom and God's grace in this area today! Purpose from this moment on to pursue hearing Him every morning and it will change your life forever!

In Luke 8:15, Jesus encourages us that spiritual hearing has great value and lifelong benefit. He said, "And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God's word, cling to it, and patiently (some versions say "persevering") produce a huge harvest." Notice that receiving the harvest is not only associated with patiently persevering when you put your seed in good soil, but also with hearing God's word and clinging to it.

We pray your spiritual and physical ears are fine-tuned this year to hear and receive God's wisdom in your life greater than ever before! May God richly bless your 2017 with unprecedented joy, peace and a heart full of gratefulness and celebration as never before!

We love and believe in you!
